Mathematics

Program Description

Mathematics is one of the fundamental, most unified and universal sciences. The discipline of mathematics trains the mind to use logic and reason to discover new knowledge, and to make sense of what we already know. Through research, education and application, Lehigh’s mathematics program trains students to solve complex problems in their respective fields of study. Students work closely with faculty, who encourage, mentor, and challenge them throughout the program.

Lehigh’s mathematics department offers the following graduate degrees:

  • M.S. in Mathematics
  • Ph.D. in Mathematics
  • M.S. in Applied Mathematics
  • Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics
  • M.S. in Statistics

Candidates in the master's programs typically complete 30 credit hours (10+ courses).

Ph.D. candidates typically complete the program in 5 - 7 years with additional credit hours (depending on entry level) as well as a dissertation.

Graduates go on to successful careers in academia, business, finance, education, engineering, government, and medical sciences.
